Hampshire weather: Met Office issue yellow weather warning for 'disruptive winds' in Portsmouth on May bank holiday

The Met Office is predicting strong winds for the city and the surrounding areas.
Gusts of up to 60mph could be seen along the coast, but speeds of 40mph and 50mph could be seen across the south coast.

Hide AdThe warning comes into force at noon on Monday, the bank holiday, and remains in place until 9am on Tuesday.
Residents are being warned that the gusts could be ‘disruptive’.
On its website the Met Office says: ‘A vigorous area of low pressure is likely to cross Northern England on Monday.
‘Strong winds are expected to the south of the low centre with gusts widely 40 to 50 mph, but perhaps as high as 60 mph around some coasts and hills of England and South Wales.

Hide Ad‘The winds should gradually ease through Tuesday morning. The strong winds will be accompanied by some heavy rain at times.’
Heavy rain is expected in Portsmouth on Monday from 4pm until the end of the day.
The Met Office is also warning: ‘Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely.

‘Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely.
‘Damage to outdoor temporary structures possible.’
