Hide AdNow the Rail Accident Investigation Branch has launched a probe into the incident, which left both the staff member and the train driver in a distressed state.
According to investigators, the staff member went on to the tracks without requesting for trains to be stopped.
He was not aware of the non-stop service as he had contacted the wrong signaller to check if any trains were approaching.
The probe will consider the factors affecting the man’s decisions and the training required for his role.
