Gafirs to hold open day with emergency services

EMERGENCY services are taking part in an open day.

Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service will bring together emergency crews for a Blue Light day this weekend.

Representatives from police, fire and ambulance services will be at Gafirs, in Stokes Bay, showing off their emergency vehicles. The free event will be attended by other voluntary and civilian-provided public services.

Visitors will be able to see and hear about Gafirs’ new independent lifeboats, the Joan Dora Fuller and Ian Fuller.

Gafirs chairman Keith Thomas said: ‘We are very proud to highlight the amazing work our emergency services do and this event is a great way for the public to come and meet these heroes face to face.

‘Not only will members of the public get the chance to see and hear all about these fantastic services, they’ll also be able to meet our lifeboat crews who work tirelessly to keep the waters of the Solent safe.’

The event on Sunday is from 11am until 4pm.
