POLICE arrested a man on suspicion of sexual assault after reports he was ‘behaving inappropriately’ towards women in shops.

Police responded to the incident in South Street, Chichester, at 5.40pm on Thursday.

A 37-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and has since been released on conditional bail until November 17 whilst further enquiries continue.

A Sussex police statement said: ‘In the meantime, we would urge the public against speculating or reporting alleged offences on social media.

‘If you have any information which could assist our investigation, please report it online or call 101, quoting serial 1023 of 15/10.’
