Play park set on fire by arsonists destroying equipment and train in Kings Worthy with police seeking key witnesses

A PLAY park was set on fire and most of the equipment was destroyed.

‘Significant damage’ was caused to the site, with police releasing CCTV images of two people believed to be key witnesses. The park was set ablaze on September 24 between 12.30am and 12.45am.

The damaged children’s play area is next to Tubbs Hall on Pound Road, Kings Worthy. One woman from Winchester, 33, was arrested on suspicion of arson. Police questioned her before she was released under investigation.

Enquiries into the vandalism are ongoing. A statement from Hampshire and Isle of Wight police said: ‘Significant damage was caused to the play equipment in the park.

‘Officers have been carrying out enquiries since the incident and we are releasing this image of two people we would like to speak to as witnesses. They were captured on CCTV sitting on a bench in the park between 11.23pm and 11.35pm on Friday, September 23.
